The Thule Spare Me is a locking 2 bike rack that mounts on the rear spare tire of your vehicle. Spare tire racks are a great option for SUVs and Jeeps, which may not be able to utilize a hitch mount bicycle carrier because the tire gets in the way. The rack's backing plate fits on the bolts behind your tire. The backing plate has a square tube that once your tire is back on, sticks out through the middle. The front of the rack, which includes the bike holding arms, then screws onto this tube with a quick release knob. So, you can remove the rack easily once the backing plate is installed behind the tire. The knob locks with an included key for rack security. The Spare Me has adjustability for side and center mount spare tires. It will fit most stock vehicle tires, but not extreme 4x4 or large RV tires. Bicycle rack features include: soft T3 adjustable cradles to hold the top tube of each bike frame, movable rack arms that fold down when you're not using the rack, an included heavy duty strap to secure bikes, and steel tube construction with a stylish silver powder coat finish.
